How to install and use the web clipper

When you're browsing the web and see something interesting, you can save it to FIBRES with the web clipper.

What is the web clipper

The web clipper is a bit of code that's added to your browser as a bookmark. When you are viewing a web page and click the web clipper bookmark, the contents of the web page are scraped and added to FIBRES as a signal.

How to install the web clipper

The web clipper is installed by adding it as a bookmark to your bookmarks bar. The web clipper works for all common browsers.

1. Navigate to the top right corner of FIBRES and open the dropdown 
2. Click Install web clipper. A popup window with some instructions opens.
3. Drag and drop the Add to FIBRES button into the favorites bar of your browser.

I can't see my bookmarks bar. What to do?

Your bookmarks bar needs to be visible in order to install and use the web clipper.

On Chrome

1. Click View.
2. Click Always Show Bookmark Bar.

On Safari

1. Click View.
2. Click Show Favourites Bar.

On Firefox

1. Click View.
2. Hover over Toolbars.
3. Hover over Bookmarks Toolbar.
4. Click Always Show.

On New Edge

1. Click View
2. Click Always Show Favourites Bar.

How to save a signal with the web clipper

Found an interesting article that you'd like to save into FIBRES? The easiest way to create signals from news articles is with the web clipper.

Once you have installed the web clipper into your bookmarks bar, you can use it to save a copy of any page on the web into your FIBRES account.

1. Open a news article in your browser.
2. Make sure your bookmarks bar is visible.
3. Click the Add to FIBRES bookmark.

After clicking Add to FIBRES, the news article you were looking at will be saved to FIBRES as a signal.
